Parent Reading Tips
Phonics & Reading Aloud

Readers only get better by reading. There is NO SUBSTITUTE!  Young students should spend 10-20 minutes reading every night.

Sometimes reading aloud with your child(ren) can feel a bit tricky. Do I give them the word when they are struggling? How do I prompt them? What kinds of questions should I ask to help them better understand what they are reading?

Please watch the following video. It demonstrates some helpful tips and strategies for you to use at home!

Fundations

Fundations is a research-based, systematic approach to teaching phonics, spelling, and handwriting. Our school uses this program in Kindergarten through Third Grade.

When we are in the classroom, we are able to do a variety of multisensory activities in our lessons. Students write on whiteboards, write trick words with gel boards and magic pens, build words with magnetic tile boards, use our arms to write giant letters in the air, trace sandpaper letters, and more.
